Trams, metro, buses — how to get around and save money

💡 Tips & Life Hacks

Monthly vs Annual pass in Prague

Monthly pass: 550 CZK/month. Annual pass: 3,650 CZK/year (saves ~2 months). If you stay more than 6 months, annual is almost always cheaper. Buy at Lítačka.cz.

Student discount

Full-time students (up to 26 years old) get a 50% discount on monthly/annual passes in Prague. Bring your student ID (ISIC card) when registering.

Seniors (65+) travel free

Passengers aged 65+ travel for free in Prague — just carry a proof of age (ID or passport). No ticket needed.

Children travel free (up to 15!)

Children up to 6 travel free. Children 6–10 and 10–15 also travel FREE — they just need a proof of age (birth certificate or school ID). No ticket needed!

App vs Paper ticket — save money!

Always buy via the PID Lítačka app — it's cheaper! 30 min: 36 CZK (app) vs 39 CZK (paper). 90 min: 46 CZK (app) vs 50 CZK (paper). Download the app before boarding.

Buy a 90-minute ticket, not 30-minute

The 90-min ticket covers all transfers across metro, tram and bus. The 30-min is only worth it for a single short ride with no transfers. When in doubt, go 90 min.

Validate your ticket!

Always validate your paper ticket at the yellow machine when boarding. Plain-clothes inspectors (revizoři) do random checks. Fine is 1,500 CZK on the spot.

Night transport in Prague

Night trams and buses run 0:00–4:30am on routes marked N1-N60. They run every 30 minutes. Your regular pass covers night transport too.

Airport bus in Prague

Bus 119 (to Nádraží Veleslavín metro, line A) is the cheapest way from/to Prague Airport — just a 90-min ticket: 46 CZK (app) or 50 CZK (paper). No special airport ticket needed.
